Ariona Academy of Science and Operation Landfill Relief

Mr Blair's science students at the Arizona Academy of Science took it upon themselves to reduce their landfill input.  Simply stated - they wanted their school to throw away less!  These seventh and eighth graders created a mulit-faceted, school-wide program to achieve several goals:

  • Recycle all they could: milk cartons, papers, and other school trash
  • Compost leftovers from lunches, and the compost is used in the Inquiry Garden
  • Clean and shred Styrofoam lunch trays to be filling for bean bags
  • Educate their school, nearby schools and other community members on sustainability

Some images of all their hard work are below, and if you'd like to know more, please contact Evelyn!
